Almost half of Towson University's undergraduate student population has transferred to Towson from another 4-year institution or a community college. The needs of transfer students are different than those of students who started their undergraduate career here at Towson. Office of Assessment research shows that transfer students are more likely to commute longer distances, to care for family members or dependents, or to work off campus, and less likely to participate in evening or weekend campus activities. The Office of Assessment collects data related to the transfer student experience and provides the results from these data to support decision makers looking at new programs and facilities, curricular and co-curricular improvements, and budget allocation.
