About Beta Alpha Psi


Objective

Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals. The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

Mission

Our mission is to add value to the members and applicants of our organization through community enrichment in order to become recognized as a distinguished chapter of the Beta Alpha Psi National Organization.

Membership

Membership in Beta Alpha Psi includes those persons of good moral character who have achieved scholastic and/or professional excellence in the fields of accounting, finance, or information systems, who have been initiated by an existing chapter and who remain in good standing. Minimum scholastic requirements for undergraduate membership are set forth in the by-laws. Graduate student initiates must have been accepted and matriculated into a Master's degree level program.

We are well-known for the networking opportunities that we offer our members. Some other benefits include:

  • - Develop leadership skills as a chapter officer
  • - Enhance your technical knowledge about contemporary issues
  • - Derive great satisfaction by returning something to our communities by participating in community service events

Pledge Requirements

  • 1. Be enrolled in or have taken at least one upper level Accounting or Finance class (i.e.ACCT 301).
  • 2. Graduate students must have been accepted and matriculated into a Master's Degree level accounting program.
  • 3. Complete the membership application and return it to the president of BAP.
  • 4. Pay a Membership Fee: chapter dues + one time national dues.
  • 5. Maintain at least 3.0 Cumulative and 3.0 Major GPAs.
  • 6. Attend 9 meetings and 2 office visits, participate in fund raising activity, and community service.
  • 7. Email your updated resume to bap@towson.edu
