ANNOUNCEMENT FOR STUDENTS ON ADVISING
1) As you may know, Towson is now requiring Advising of all majors prior to registration.
2) Students can meet with an advisor in one of several ways. Some advisors will want to meet with each of their advisees in person in a “one on one” meeting before registration begins in November. If so, they will contact you via email to set up a time to meet (be sure your advisor has your current email address!). You may also take the initiative and make the first contact by asking for a meeting. Your assigned advisor may also be available during one or more “Open Advising” sessions that will occur starting November 7th. A schedule for these sessions will be posted outside the Biology office, announced in class, and posted on the Department’s website.
3) During open advising, before seeing your advisor you must fill out
a) Biology Concentration requirement form
b) GenEd requirement form
The next step is to see either your assigned advisor, or if your advisor is not available, you may see any other advisor in the department who is available during the open advising session.
4) Please be sure to bring at least the following information with you when you meet with an advisor:
a) A copy of your “Progress Report” (see instruction below),
b) A list of the classes you would like to take next semester
c) If possible, a proposed schedule that includes your most preferred courses for next semester
You will also need to know (or be prepared to discuss) what concentration area you have selected (e.g., Organismal Biology & Ecology, Functional Biology (including Pre-Med/Pre-Dent), and Cell & Molecular Biology.

PLEASE NOTE: Freshman and first-semester transfer students have assigned advisers with whom they must meet one-on-one. These students should contact their advisor if they have not already done so.
