The Forecast

Towson University Regional Economic Studies Institute Chief Economist Daraius Irani, Ph.D., presents an in-depth look at the state of our economy. From the results of the November 6 election and Governor Hogan's perceived popularity to critical occupational shortages and a low unemployment rate, the Economic Forecast addresses how economic and political forces impact each of us.

Dr. Irani's insight and commentary helps state and local agencies, businesses, and individuals in Greater Baltimore make more strategic economic decisions.

The Focus Group

As an anchor institution for Greater Baltimore and an economic engine for Maryland, Towson University is invested in our community. Under the leadership of President Schatzel, a comprehensive strategy is being developed that focuses on strengthening the connectivity between communities, core institutions, and emerging businesses.

This year's Economic Outlook Forum focuses on the importance of placemaking and will seek to answer these questions:

  • What does placemaking look like for TU?
  • How can TU support Baltimore County's goal of a more robust downtown Towson?
  • What are the challenges and opportunities with TU having a greater presence in downtown Towson?
