Outdoor Trips

Join Adventure Pursuits on our outdoor trips this spring! All students, staff, and faculty are welcome. Trips are carefully planned, scouted and led by trained, experienced outdoor trip leaders. Transportation and equipment are provided with all of our trips. Meals are provided with some trips. No experience is necessary, just curiosity and love of adventure!

Refund Policy
Refunds are only given if Adventure Pursuits cancels a trip due to weather, lack of participation or other factors. Refunds will not be given for participant cancellations.

Ski and Snowboard Trips
Description: Want to hit the slopes? Catch a $10 van ride with Adventure Pursuits! Wednesday nights are college nights at Liberty Roundtop. They offer a $35 five-hour ski pass with free rentals. You must show a college ID to get the student rate. Transportation will be provided. Meeting will be at 4 p.m. on the day of the trip in the Outdoor Trip Center, Burdick Hall room 122.

Backpacking the Appalachian Trail
Description: Adventure Pursuits returns to Michaux State Forest for a springtime getaway from the hustle of Towson. Enjoy the simplicity of nature on a weekend along the Pennsylvania section of the Appalachian Trail. Food, equipment and transportation will be provided. Van will leave at 4 p.m.
Level: Beginner, Intermediate.

Top-Rope Climbing at Sugarloaf
Description: Step outside of the boundaries of indoor climbing and join us at Sugarloaf Mountain for a great day of outdoor top-roping. Prior belay certification is recommended, but not required. Equipment and transportation will be provided.

Flat-Water Kayaking in D.C.: Monument Tour
Description: Join us for a relaxing day in Washington, D.C., where we will be learning the basics of kayaking while viewing the nation's capital's most famous monuments from the water. No experience necessary. Equipment, transportation, and guides provided.
Level: Beginner.

Whitewater Kayaking at Gunpowder Gorge
Description: Learn the basics of whitewater kayaking including skills and paddle alongside skilled guides on a local gem located right down the street. This is a great river for beginners to hone kayaking skills they have learned in the pool. Transportation and equipment are provided.
Prerequisite: Must attend two kayaking clinics and be approved by our kayak instructor.

Day Hike at Loch Raven
Description: Explore a local park with guides familiar with the area. Various hiking trails will be covered on a relaxing hike away from the bustle of Towson. No experience necessary. Transportation will be provided.

Whitewater Kayaking at Codorus Creek
Description: Want to step up your kayaking skills or hop into white water for the first time? Crush and glide down Codorus Creek with our experienced guides. Transportation and equipment will be provided.
Prerequisite: Must attend two kayaking clinics and be approved by our kayak instructor.
Level: Intermediate, Advanced.

Sport Climbing at Safe Harbor
Description: Come join us for a weekend of sport climbing overlooking the Susquehanna River. Learn the basics of sport climbing including clipping, belaying and rope management at one of the newest climbing areas to reopen in the region. Transportation and equipment will be provided.
Prerequisite: It is recommended that participants be able to climb at least a 5.9 in the gym.
Level: Intermediate, Advanced.

Beach Backpacking at Assateague
Description: Enjoy the sun, surf and sand as we travel along the backcountry beach trails of Assateague Island National Seashore. Transportation, meals, and equipment will be provided. Van will leave at 4 p.m.

From Gym to Crag: Clinic 3: Top Rope Set-Ups
Description: Use what you learned in the first two Gym to Crag clinics and put all of the pieces together as you set up your very own top rope set-ups in Great Falls, VA. Equipment, instructors and transportation will be provided.
