Swim to the BahamasLooking for a way to stay motivated with your swimming workouts? Our Swim to the Bahamas program is free and will help you track your progress! Here's how to participate:
Each participant will need to swim the distance from Towson, Md., to Nassau, Bahamas (approximately 1,490 miles), using the conversion of 100 yards = 10 miles. Participants who continue to swim back will swim double the amount of yards. Participants must swim this distance between the dates of September 9, 2013, and March 14, 2014. All swims must be done in Burdick Pool during open swim hours. Participants must report the same day they swim for the lifeguard on duty to report. Participants should plan on swimming approximately 700 yards per week to swim to the Bahamas. To swim back, participants should plan on swimming approximately 1,400 yards per week (excluding winter break and Minimester). Please email Katie Jones, Assistant Director of Facilities and Aquatics, with any questions. |
