Lorie Logan-Bennett, M.A., Director
Liaison to Fisher College of Science and Mathematics & Division of Innovation and Applied Research
Lorie enjoys the privilege of leading the Career Center in its efforts to support TU students in the pursuit and obtainment of their career goals and assist employers in their search for talent. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and her M.A. from The Ohio State University. With 20 years of experience in the field, Lorie has happily been with the TU Career Center since 2011.
Shelby began working at the Career Center in 2011 as a student employee and now serves as the Administrative Assistant at The Career Center. She works with the student workers to ensure Towson students, employers, and alumni are assisted with any appointments and events. Shelby earned her B.S. in English at Towson University in 2014 and in her spare time drinks too much coffee, bakes pumpkin spiced cookies (no matter the season), and rereads Harry Potter.
Keith is a communications and marketing professional with over 10 years of experience. Keith is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies to promote Career Center events and services to TU students, managing the Career Center website, and maintaining the job/internship database, Hire@TU. He is also a member of the TU Marketing Committee, the Division of Student Affairs Marketing Committee, the Division of Student Affairs Website & Technology Committee, and the Career Center Marketing Committee.
Keith earned his M.S. in Communications Management from TU and his B.S. in Visual Communication Design from Stevenson University. He enjoys the outdoors, including biking and boating, and spending time with wife, Sophie, and daughter, Lorelai.
Seana Coulter, M.Ed., NCC, Assistant Director
National Certified Counselor
Liaison to Center for Student Diversity
Seana has worked in the area of Career Services for over 15 years. In her current role, she provides individual and group career assessment, counseling, and guidance to college students on a wide range of career-related issues. Additionally, she provides career presentations to high school juniors and seniors, teaches a career and life planning course, and serves on the planning committee for the Maryland Career Consortium’s annual job fair. Seana was recently awarded the President’s Diversity Award in recognition for her commitment to fostering greater awareness, understanding and advancement of diversity and inclusiveness at TU.
She received a B.S. in African American History from Coppin State College and a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. She is also a certified practitioner for the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Step I and Step II instruments.
Casey Cooper, M.A., Career Counselor
Liaison to College of Health Professions
Casey is a counselor with experience in higher education, career advising, individual counseling, and group counseling. Casey is responsible for providing career counseling to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni. Additionally, she aids students with job/internship search techniques, interview preparation, résumé-writing, and preparing for graduate school. She is also a member of the Counseling and Advising Team in the Career Center. Casey earned her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from TU and her B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park in Psychology.
Employer Services and Career Events
Cary Smedley, M.A., Assistant Director, Employer Relations
Liaison to College of Business and Economics & Athletics
Cary leads the employer relations team, is a member of the counseling/advising team and serves on the Community Connections committee through Student Conduct. She manages career fairs, the on-campus recruiting program and presents career-related classroom workshops. She is a certified practitioner of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Assessment and serves as the liaison to the College of Business and Economics and the Department of Athletics. Cary was selected in 2001 as the first TU staff administrator to participate in the Staff Exchange Program between TU and the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany.
She teaches a career and life planning course and served as a First Year Experience (FYE) Advisor for four years. She earned a B.A. in History/English from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She holds a M.A. from TU in Professional Studies with a concentration in Human Resource Development and Professional Writing and a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Management and Leadership Development.
Savina Wiggins, Student Employment Coordinator
Liaison to the College of Liberal Arts
Savina has worked her way from a Career Center student employee to a full-time staff member. A Towson Tiger since 2006, she specializes in career advising, student employment and giving away free suits to students. When the mood strikes her, she also dabbles in social media, infusing her brand humor into the Career Center’s Facebook/Twitter pages. Born and raised in “Charm City,” Savina graduated from TU with a B.S. in Psychology in 2008. An avid “The Walking Dead” enthusiast, Savina enjoys being with her loved ones and finding humor in everyday situations.
Justina DiCarlo, M.S., Job Location and Development Coordinator
Justina is a lifelong Tiger, graduating from TU with a B.S. in Theatre in 2012 and a M.S. in Human Resource Development in 2014. Prior to joining the Career Center, Justina was involved in Housing and Residence Life, Student Government Association, and many other student groups and organizations. Justina specializes in building meaningful employer relationships to enhance part-time job opportunities for fellow Tigers. When not at work, Justina can be found binge watching something on Netflix and drinking milkshakes.
Tasha began her career at Towson University in the Career Center as an Administrative Assistant I in August 2008. Following a brief interval in this position, the Administrative Assistant II position was vacated and she quickly transitioned into the role. Tasha’s passion is evident in her work with students, faculty, staff and employers who call or visit the center. She organizes the on-campus recruiting program, working diligently and effectively to make the students’ and employers’ experience a positive and productive one.
Janine is a first year Graduate Assistant and serves as a member of the Counseling and Advising Team in the Career Center. She co-organizes mobile units and participates in organizing a variety of Career Center events, including workshops. Janine is also responsible for aiding in the organization of the Fall and Spring Career Fairs. Janine earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Janine is currently in the Child Life, Family Collaboration, and Administration master’s program at Towson University.
Internships and Experiential Education
Glenda Henkel, M.Ed., M.S., Associate Director
Liaison to College of Education & Honors College
Glenda specializes in experiential education, especially internships, as well as resume writing and preparing personal statements for grad school applications. In addition to her Career Center roles as liaison to the College of Education and the Honors College, Glenda serves on the University Academic Advising Council and the Women in Leadership Conference planning committee.
A life-long Marylander, Glenda earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Psychology and certification in Secondary Education from Frostburg State, a M.Ed. in Student Personnel and Guidance from the College of New Jersey, and a M.S. in Professional Writing from TU. She came to TU in 1984 as an Associate Director of the Internship/Cooperative Education program and found a home and career that she loves! In her spare time, Glenda enthusiastically supports her kids, college and professional sports, music, Barnes & Noble (yes, she camped out for more than one release of Harry Potter) and the public library.
Laura Smith, M.Ed., Internship Coordinator/Career Advisor
Liaison to College of Fine Arts and Communication
Laura is a member of the internship team, and is the liaison to the College of Fine Arts and Communication. She has experience with marketing and employer outreach for the Career Center, but specializes in educating students about career resources through various workshops (please see the faculty section of our website for the workshop request form). Laura originally hails from the great state of Texas, completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and her M.Ed. at James Madison University. Laura has worked at TU since 2008 and joined the Career Center team in 2012.
Rachel Bachman, M.Ed., NCC, Internship Coordinator/Career Advisor
Liaison to the College of Liberal Arts
Rachel joined the Towson Career Center in March of 2014. She specializes in internships and partnering with the College of Liberal Arts. Originally from Morgantown, WV, she received a B.A. in Sociology and Women’s Studies from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. After struggling with finding the right career path, she realized she wanted to help others in the same situation and received her M.Ed. in School Counseling from Loyola University Maryland and her National Counseling Certification. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys TV with her dog, books set in boarding schools, making things, and biscuits.
Ryn serves as a member of the Internship Team and the Counseling and Advising Team in the Career Center. She co-organizes mobile units and participates in organizing a variety of Career Center events.
Originally from Oil City, Pennsylvania, Ryn earned a B.S. in Psychology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She is a current counseling psychology graduate student at Towson University. In her spare time, Ryn enjoys camping and spending time on the beach.
