The Career Center

Counseling versus Advising Appointments

There are two types of one-on-one meetings offered at The Career Center: career advising and career counseling appointments.

Advisors assist with specific needs such as writing resumes or cover letters, finding internships, developing job search strategies, and practicing interview skills.

In addition to these services, a career counselor can also help with establishing career goals, interpreting career-related assessments, making career decisions, coping with career transitions, and overcoming obstacles to career development. Counselors hold masters degrees and certification or licensure in counseling.

It is important to remember that a career advisor or counselor will NOT make a decision for you.

Due to limitations on staffing and resources, The Career Center may limit the number of sessions available to individuals.

To schedule an appointment, please call our front desk at 410-704-2233 during normal business hours.
