Career Action Plan

Freshman Checklist

Assess your skills, interests and values, then identify majors that complement your profile.

  Share your checklist with your academic advisor.

  Meet with your first year advisor several times during the year.

  Begin self-assessment; consider your interests, values, skills and motivation.

  Formulate a skills development plan.

  Start to explore careers; acquaint yourself with materials in the Career Center’s resource library.

  Identify possible majors that relate to your interests and abilities; discuss them with a career counselor.

  Learn about Towson University's colleges and majors, explore the major requirements and gain information about related related careers.

Explore networking and student involvement activities.

  Complete your profile on Hire@TU, the Career Center's free, online job and internship database that offers recruiting services for students.

  Identify and participate in campus and community activities that enhance your skills and complement your values.

  Plan early for part-time and summer jobs, job shadowing, internships or volunteer opportunities that could provide exposure to work settings and job functions related to your career interests.
