AACSB Accreditation

Towson University is the only University System of Maryland institution accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International in both its business administration and accounting programs.  AACSB is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting and the highest distinction that business schools can receive worldwide. Less than six percent of business schools have this accreditation worldwide.

Facts about AACSB-accredited schools:

  • 95 percent say AACSB Accreditation ultimately improves the quality of their business programs.

  • 94 percent report that AACSB Accreditation provides a concrete benchmarking framework to continually measure themselves.

  • 93 percent state that AACSB Accreditation has a continuous positive effect on their ongoing curricula development, program design and delivery methods.

AACSB Accreditation requires that schools:

  • Teach everything that students need, from communication skills to financial reporting.
  • Have qualified and adequate faculty and staff to successfully deliver programs.
  • Produce research that advances business—which means students have access to innovative and relevant business ideas and methods.
