Part 1: Student Self-Assessment and Learning Plan

Prior to the first class session, you must complete the Student Self-Assessment and Internship Agreement Form, which is completed with the help of your internship supervisor.

Part 2: Reflective Journal Entry 1

Reflection is the key to a meaningful professional experience. For the course, you will create a Reflective Journal to track and analyze your experiences. This requires you to think critically about your work experience including your job tasks, interpersonal encounters, conflicts, crises, work-/career-related thoughts, paperwork, meetings and other experiences that you consider significant.

For the first class session, read Habit 1 from Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and write your first reflective journal entry on “Habit 1: Be Proactive.” Your journal entry is due at the first class session.

Your first reflective journal entry should answer the following questions:

• How does this habit challenge you to reflect on regarding your internship and other work experience to-date?
• What does this habit suggest for your personal and professional efforts in the future?
• What does this habit mean toward your adding value in your future career?
