CBE Strategic Plan

The College of Business and Economics Strategic Plan was developed with input from various CBE stakeholders including the College's Advisory Board, administration, faculty and staff.  The plan identifies five themes that are guiding CBE's future growth and development: quality, access, responsiveness, productivity, and branding. 

Strategic Priority Number 1:  Prepare students for success in business and the larger community through the integration of high quality, contemporary and relevant programs, experiential learning, applied research and community outreach.

Goal One: Ensure student proficiency in foundational knowledge and skills including:

  • The ability to think critically and creatively

  • Make ethical decisions

  • Produce effective written and oral communication

  • Use technology appropriately, and demonstrate an integrated understanding of the business functional areas

Goal Two: Offer high quality, contemporary and relevant business programs.

Goal Three: Manage expected enrollment growth in undergraduate programs and grow enrollment in graduate programs while maintaining quality standards.

Goal Four: Offer students opportunities to meet personal and professional goals.

Goal Five: Promote course content, activities in student organizations, research projects, and extracurricular programs that provide experiential learning opportunities.

Strategic Priority Number 2:  Support high-quality faculty who are actively engaged in teaching and scholarship.

Goal One: Recruit high-quality faculty who seek a balanced career path as evidenced by their commitments to teaching and scholarship.

Goal Two: Retain high-quality faculty who have sustained their commitments to the College’s vision and mission.

Goal Three: Reward high-quality faculty who are making significant value-added contributions to student learning, scholarship and service leadership.

Goal Four:  Support faculty commitments to high-quality teaching and scholarship activities.

Strategic Priority Number 3: Promote the economic, educational, and societal advancement of Maryland.    
        

Goal One: Maintain and develop activities that contribute to economic development.

Goal Two: Maintain and develop activities that contribute to our engagement with the educational community.

Goal Three: Maintain and develop activities that contribute to societal development.
