Scholarships
The College of Business and Economics offers a variety of scholarships for majors within the College. Some of these scholarships require proof of financial need and others do not. The following scholarships are administered by the CBE Scholarship Committee.

Effat
Mirmiran Endowed Scholarship
This award is open to undergraduate CBE students. The award is based on academic merit, evidence of leadership skills and a yearly commitment of 100 hours of community service
Jamie Hurd Scholarship
This award is open to sophomore, junior and senior CBE students who have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Recipient must correspond with the Hurd family.
Sam Barone Scholarship
This award is open to junior and senior CBE students with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. The recipient will be chosen prior to the academic year when the award will apply.
Tignanelli Family Endowed Scholarship
This award is open to continuing freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior students in the College of Business and Economics with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
PROOF OF FINANCIAL NEED IS REQUIRED
A FASFA form must be completed by the student and submitted to the Financial Aid office prior to applying for the scholarship. If you are not eligible through FASFA, you will NOT be considered for any of the following scholarships.
CBE Advisory Board Scholarship
This award is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students who have chosen business as their primary major. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and indicated a strong interest in a business career. Preference will be given to students with financial need and to a student who demonstrates leadership potential.
Christopher Scott Stark Memorial Scholarship
This award is open to all incoming or returning CBE students and is based on financial need and merit. Recipient must display high moral character and personal integrity.
Dr. Sayeed Kayvan Memorial Scholarship
This award is open to freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior level students who are enrolled full-time and have a declared major in the College of Business and Economics. Upperclassmen applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in their major. In the case of incoming freshmen, applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 1100.
Mary Fyffe Chiswell, Class ’22 Scholarship
This award is open to sophomore, junior and senior students. Preference will be given to Maryland residents.
Stephen K. Shock Memorial Scholarship
This award is open to any student in the College of Business and Economics who has a demonstrated financial need.
Towsontowne Business and Professional Women's Club
This award is open to full-time and part-time undergraduate women students who have completed at least 60 credits and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The application is broken down by goals and academic plans and career goals.
OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS
In addition to the scholarships noted above, which require students to complete an application, the CBE awards the following scholarships:
Rising Star Scholarships
- Dr. Louise Laurence Rising Star Endowed Scholarship
- Dr. Sayeed Kayvan Rising Star Endowed Scholarship
- Jerry German Rising Star Endowed Scholarship
Students cannot apply for these scholarships, but rather, are nominated by a CBE faculty member. Students nominated must be full-time undergraduate students in good academic standing. Recipients should be sophomores or juniors who are motivated students and who will benefit from the honor bestowed by these awards.
