Transfer Students

Students forming "TU" for Towson University in front of Stephens Hall

Interested in finishing your business degree with an accredited college? Towson University's College of Business and Economics might be the right choice for you.

In order to graduate from Towson University (TU) with a major from the CBE, students must complete at least 50 percent of the units required in their major at TU.

Lower-Level Courses
Students planning to transfer into the Business Administration, e-Business, or Accounting majors are encouraged to take the lower-level required courses:

Principals of Accounting I and II
Statistics
Microeconomics
Legal Environment of Business
Macroeconomics
Computer Science
(COSC 111/112 equivalent)

Students transferring from a Maryland community college should inquire at that institution's transfer office or refer to ARTSYS, the articulation system of Maryland, regarding Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) for the Business Administration, e-Business or Accounting majors at CBE.

After transferring to TU, students are encouraged to take such courses as finance, marketing, management, and e-Business because these are upper-level courses at the university. Courses completed at the community college or a four-year college that are offered at TU as upper-level courses do not need to be repeated but must be validated in order to be recognized as meeting upper-level requirements. Validation generally requires another specific course in the same discipline be completed at TU with a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher.

Upper-level Courses
A four-year college's transferred course that possesses "level and content equivalency" of a TU course may be used to satisfy a required/elective requirement with the approval of the major department. Only one transferred course will be accepted to fulfillment of a concentration/track requirement. A student intending to transfer a course must provide a course description from the other college's catalog.
