Assistant Professor, Analytical Chemistry

Position:
Applicants are invited for a tenure-track position starting Fall 2012. Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or closely related field required; post-doctoral experience and ability to contribute to undergraduate and graduate programs in environmental chemistry and/or forensic chemistry highly desirable. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and will be expected to develop an active research program involving undergraduate students and to pursue external funding. Typical teaching load is 18 contact hours (six courses)/year, with primary teaching responsibility in analytical chemistry.

Department:
The Chemistry Department is ACS accredited, with 17 tenured or tenure track faculty, actively engaged in externally funded research involving undergraduates and graduate students. The Department enrolls about 400 undergraduates in Chemistry, Forensic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry Secondary Education and 45 graduate students in the Masters in Forensic Science. The B.S. in Forensic Chemistry and the M.S. in Forensic Science are among a small number of nationally accredited programs through FEPAC. The Department supports the undergraduate and graduate Environmental Science programs and undergraduate Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics program.
