ALLIED HEALTH

Bachelor of Technical and Professional Studies in Allied Health

The Bachelor of Technical/Professional Studies in Allied Health is a recognized bachelor’s degree program designed to facilitate maximum transfer of academic credit for associate degree graduates from a variety of health and health-related programs.  Frequently, when someone graduates from an associate degree allied health program and enters a baccalaureate degree program, all or most of their health discipline-specific courses do not apply to the baccalaureate program. This is not the case with the Allied Health program since most or all of the health discipline-specific courses, up to 64 semester hours of transfer credit, do transfer to the bachelor's degree program. Students may also be able to transfer in other applicable coursework that has been taken at other 4-year institutions, for a combined total of 90 credits.

WHY MAJOR IN ALLIED HEALTH?

The Allied Health Program is designed to give practicing health care professionals the opportunity to advance their careers by expanding their skills in the health care marketplace.   The program builds on their existing clinical backgrounds and prepares them to assume additional responsibilities through advanced learning in health care administration and management, organization and funding, ethical and professional issues, and research findings that affect best practice.  Graduates are better positioned for promotions, movement into related positions, or job expansion.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students who are interested in applying to the Allied Health Program need a completed A.A.S. degree from an accredited college. The degree should be one of the specified eligible disciplines for the Allied Health Program.  Please contact the Program Director for additional information if you have a health-related associate’s degree that is not listed.  Under limited circumstances, other associate’s degree programs may be acceptable.
