ALLIED HEALTH Program

Professor Linda Caplis reviewing the Allied Health Program with a prospective studentThe Allied Health Major at Towson University is designed for community college graduates with an Associate’s Degree in an approved allied health discipline, who want to earn a Bachelor’s degree. This degree allows students with a two-year degree to advance not only their education, and also advance professionally in their given fields.

The Allied Health Program is Towson University’s only fully online undergraduate major. All Foundation courses are available online, as are the Administration/Management and Advanced Respiratory tracks. There are also opportunities for students to take courses on our campus located in Towson Maryland, just north of Baltimore.

Students are able to transfer up to 64 credits from Regionally Accredited Community Colleges. The University requires students to satisfy any non-completed general education courses at Towson University.

Track Options
The program offers 6 Tracks for students to choose from based on professional interests. They include:
• Administration/Management
• Advanced Respiratory Therapy
• Family Studies
• Education
• Science and Professional Preparation
• Health Promotion, Wellness, Prevention and Community Health Education

Students earn a Bachelors of Technical/Professional Studies degree.

The Foundation courses and the Advanced Respiratory Therapy and Administrative/Management Tracks are available completely online.

Admission Requirements
In order to be admitted to the program, students must have an earned Associate’s degree in an approved allied health discipline (see Eligible Disciplines above) and a minimum 2.00 GPA upon transfer. After acceptance, Allied Health students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 in Foundation and Track courses.

After graduating a student with an Allied Health degree will be competitive in positions that require a Bachelor’s degree. Graduating students are also able to pursue Advanced Degree Programs.
