FAQ

FAQ - Allied Health Program
FAQ - Advanced Respiratory Therapy Track
FAQ - Dual Enrollment

Do I need an AAS degree in order to be admitted to the program?

Yes. The MD Higher Education Commission/COMAR regulations require an AAS degree in a field such as radiography, respiratory therapy, surgical technician, etc.(See Eligible Disciplines for more information). Even if you are a Towson University Undergraduate Student and have enough credits, you must have an AAS in a technical field in order to enroll in the program to receive the BTPS (Bachelors of Technical/Professional Studies) Degree.

Are students required to take the SAT or placement exams for admission?

Transfer students are not required to take the SAT if they have 30 or more transferable credits. Placement exams are only required for freshman students whose SAT score is 500 or below. Transfer students may have completed developmental coursework for their community college degree; however, developmental course credits do not count into the transferable credits.

What GPA is required for admission?

The University requires a 2.0 GPA for admission. The Allied Health program is not a screened program or capped in enrollment numbers. Therefore, any student who has the necessary GPA and the completed AAS degree can be admitted into the major.

What are the tuition costs for the program?

For in-state residents attending Towson full-time in academic year 2008-2009, tuition and all-inclusive fees per semester is $3,657. Part-time tuition for in-state residents is $225 per credit hour, plus fees. There is also a $300 non-refundable enrollment fee.
