The Allied Health Program is designed to prepare you to:
Assume managerial, supervisory, and/or clinical education roles within
your respective areas of health practice.
Enhance your use of ethically grounded and culturally sensitive practices in
your administration and delivery of health services.
Effectively use technology and scientific inquiry to support and guide
your roles as health practitioners and administrators.
Understand, evaluate, and influence societal, economic, and political forces that impact health practices at the individual, regional, and national levels.
Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, agencies, and the community in
your roles as health practitioners and administrator.
There are many reasons to study Allied Health at Towson:
The program is very flexible, allowing part-time or full-time enrollment, and provides maximum efficiency in completing the bachelor’s degree.
For students choosing a focus in administration/management, the entire program may be completed online.
Students are engaged in learning that leads to increased financial potential, promotions, and career advancement in one’s own health profession, or allows for transference into related areas of work.
Students may proceed at their own pace--stay out for a semester or more if needed due to personal reasons-- rather than having to go through the program as a group, as is generally the case with health professions programs. Course selection does not need to follow a specific sequence.
Classes may be taken in the day or evening, or in online format. Some courses are offered in the summer.
Students may create and design their own area of interest by using the “focus area” of the curriculum to pursue specific subjects of interest to them.
The program is interdisciplinary and encourages students to select courses in areas of interest to them. Options for coursework exist across the University in other health professions, liberal arts, the sciences, humanities, fine arts, and education.
Many students are able to pursue a minor in another area if they choose, in addition to the Allied Health major.
Towson University is a state-supported institution with reasonable tuition and fees. Various forms of financial assistance are available.
Towson University’s College of Health Profession, where the program is housed, is one of the largest producers of bachelors and masters degree graduates in the health professions in Maryland and in the Mid-Atlantic states.
