The Master of Science in Kinesiology program at Towson University is an online program designed for the PK – 12 physical education teacher who desires to strengthen teaching performance in ways that positively impact student learning.
The Kinesiology M.S. program addresses the following broad areas:
Graduates of the program are positioned to influence the teaching of physical education in their own classroom as well as improve or influence practices and initiatives in the instruction of physical education at the local, state, and national levels. In addition, interested graduates are viable candidates for pursuing National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification.

The graduate program in Kinesiology aims to meet the needs of practicing physical education teachers and physical activity advocates. Given the demands of working professional, the online program uses an asynchronous learning approach in which students complete course requirements on their own schedule. Individual assignments, discussions, and group projects are some of the ways in which student performance is assessed.
Students who wish to engage in research and/or program evaluation related to school physical education/activity with members of the faculty should contact the program director.

Towson University is not authorized to conduct distance education programs in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. However, residents of these states may enroll in distance education courses if they are in residence in Maryland and are concurrently enrolled in face-to-face courses on the Towson University campus.
