ADMISSION AND SCREENING

PRAXIS 1

All education majors need to take and pass the Praxis I test for admission to all education programs. There are two ways to take the Praxis I tests. One is written; and the other is computer-based. It is the same test. The written test is scheduled twice a semester. You can find this schedule online at www.ets.org or on the brochure in Hawkins Hall, Room 303. The computer-based test is given daily. You will have to call a participating testing site to schedule an appointment to take the computer-based test.

Please visit www.ets.org/praxis to get registration information and test dates.

There are study guides for Praxis I at any public library or any book store. You can pick up a PLATO packet from Hawkins Hall, Room 303 which gives you a website to take a practice Reading and Math test (this handout is only available to Towson students). Remember that a composite score of 527 is acceptable for passing the Praxis I tests. The individual passing scores are: Reading 177, Writing 173 and Mathematics 177.

All begining teachers in att content ares must take either the PPST, Comuterized PPST, or a combination of the tests.
