Chair's Message The Department of Educational Technology and Literacy (EDTL) is home to a wide range of high quality graduate, undergraduate and outreach programs offered within the College of Education. We offer a cadre of undergraduate support courses in developmental reading and educational technology for all teacher education students. At the graduate level, EDTL offers programs in Reading, Educational Technology, Instructional Design and Development and School Library Media. In the area of Instructional Technology, EDTL is the home of the dynamic doctoral degree program. EDTL has also served as a productive center for grants as we exceeded $3 Million dollars from 1999-2004 in federal and state awards including the Technology Integration Project, mentoring grant (a US DOE PT3 grant). EDTL is the home to the highly successful Reading Clinic. A productive range of technology resources support programs in Reading and Instructional Technology. These resources include the Educational Technology Center, the Multimedia laboratory, and a number of technology enhanced classrooms. All of these resources are located within Hawkins Hall.
Our Department’s vision, which guides our work, is to:
We invite you to explore the EDTL web pages to view our resources, examine our program offerings and to see the dedicated group of faculty who teach in EDTL. What these diverse programs and faculty have in common is an extraordinary commitment to the improvement of education. On behalf of the EDTL faculty and staff, we hope you to find the program that best meets your professional goals and to join with us to make education excellence a reality for all.
