Mary Katsafanas has been in education for the past 39 years. She began her teaching career in Carroll County Public Schools as an elementary teacher and then became a staff developer for the county's elementary schools. She ended her public school work as an Assistant Principal. During this time, Ms Katsafanas began teaching at Towson as an adjunct instructor for approximately 11 years. In 2004, she became a full time lecturer for Towson University. Ms. Katsafanas was also a consultant in reading instruction for Richard Owen Publishers and traveled across the country conducting 4-day in-services to K – 12 teachers as a facilitator, lead consultant and finally as a key note presenter with other consultants. Additionally, she has conducted independent reading consultant work in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
