Ted
Haynie is
currently completing his thirty-eighth year in
education. He has been associated with many groups and
projects involved with the education and professional
development of adults and considers that a primary
responsibility of a building administrator. He has
served on staff development design committees and
conducted numerous workshops at the national, state and
local level. He has also consulted for various school
systems in the areas of professional development, school
improvement, educational leadership and character
education. His current role as Director of the
Department of System Performance for Calvert County
Public Schools in Maryland has allowed him to gain
greater skill and understanding in data-driven decision
making and translating data into instructional practice
and school improvement. Dr. Haynie appeared in an ASCD
“How To” series video, conducted a pre-conference
session at ASCD’s 2008 annual conference on using
instructional walkthroughs to improve classroom
instruction, and recently presided as Host Chair for the
2008 Annual Conference of the National Staff Development
Council in Washington, D.C. Ted is a Guest Lecturer in
the Department of Instructional Leadership and
Professional Development for Towson University. He
received his undergraduate degree from Bowie State
University; M. Ed. from the University of Maryland, and
Ed. D. from George Washington University.
