Public Accountability Measures - First Year Graduate Employer Survey

Classes of 2008 - 2013

Each year, the Professional Education Unit at Towson University surveys the building administrators for our  1st  year graduates to help determine how well the preservice teacher has been prepared by the Professional Education Unit at Towson University. These surveys use the Interstate Teachers Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Standards to provide a common frame of reference for teacher preparation, regardless of content preparation.

In most cases, building principals complete the surveys. The completers are asked to rate their level of agreement with the phrase “This first year teacher’s performance demonstrated that she/he was able to …” for each of the ten InTASC Standards proficiencies. The survey uses a five point scale of agreement, where 5 = strongly agree, 3 = neither Agree nor Disagree, and 1 = Strongly Disagree.

While reviewing the table below, please note that the InTASC Standards first took effect during the 2011-2012 Data year, and this set of standards replaced the INTASC Principles. Thus, we have two sets of tables, one refelcting the Principles, and the other reflecting the Standards. All future surveys will use the InTASC Standards as their point of comparison.
