Doctorate of Education in Instructional Technology

Application Process

The Ed.D. program   in Instructional Technology at Towson University admits students continuously. We accept and review applications throughout the fall and spring semesters. Initially, students must apply to Towson University’s graduate college and pay any application fees. Applicants should ensure that Towson University receives all required components from the list above at least three months prior to starting the doctoral program. Decisions about a student’s application will be announced in the semester prior to admission.

Application to the Ed.D. program involves two parts

1. Completion of the Graduate College Application.

a) Graduate Application ( available online )
b) Payment of Application Fee
c) Send undergraduate and graduate transcripts
d) Complete GRE exam (and TOEFL, if necessary)

2. Completion of the Ed.D. Program Application (as described below)

a) Letter of Application
b) Letters of Recommendation
c) Academic Writing Sample
d) Digital Portfolio

3.  The Instructional Technology Ed.D. Program uses a deadline-based application process.        Students interested in applying to the program for consideration for the Fall semester must have their complete application submitted to the Graduate College no later than May 1st.  Students interested in applying to the program for consideration for the Spring semester must have their complete application submitted to the Graduate College no later than November 1st.  If you are interested in knowing the status of your application regarding either it's review or completeness, please contact the program office.  Applications that are not complete by the application deadline will not be considered by the admissions committee.

Admission Requirements 

  • An interview may be requested by the the EdD Program Admissions Committee.

Prior Knowledge

We recommend that applicants possess adequate knowledge in the areas of instructional design, educational psychology, educational statistics and research methodologies, and web-based educational environments. Our program is designed to build upon and extend your existing knowledge in these areas.
