CHECKLIST OF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIAL  EDUCATION STUDENTS MATRICULATING ON OR AFTER SEPTEMBER 1, 2007 Middle School General Science Track

The major in special education requires a minimum of 132 semester hours of college credit.  An average GPA of 2.75 or better is required for entering and remaining in the program, and a GPA of at least 3.0 in the major is required for entering student teaching.  The following listing includes general education requirements (GenEd), major requirements, and Maryland State Certification requirements.

To enter the program, students must pass speech and hearing screening; have a GPA of 2.75 or higher; completed ENGL 102 with a grade of 2.0 or higher; have completed 60 or more credits; and, have scores on the Praxis I at or above the level of standards established by the Maryland State Department of Education.
