Political Systems: Fourth and Fifth

Students will understand the historical development and current status of the fundamental concepts and processes of authority, power, and influence, with particular emphasis on the founding documents of the United States and the democratic skills and attitudes necessary to become responsible citizens.

In the context of Maryland up to contemporary times and United States history through 1790, students are able to do everything required at earlier grades and are able to:

Explain the meaning of songs, poems, and stories that express American ideals and the context within which they were created.
