Secondary Reading Certification
Towson University offers this 6 course Secondary Reading Cohort in partnership with the Baltimore County Public Schools. The purposes of this 6 course cohort are to obtain Reading Teacher certification and to enhance literacy instruction for those students for whom English is a second language. The courses include:
Reading Theory and Practice
Teaching Reading and Writing in the Content Areas K-12
Reading Assessment
Reading Disabilities
Instruction and Assessment of English Language Learners
Second Language Literacy
All courses are offered off-campus in local BCPS schools at reduced tuition based on school system's reimbursement rate. Students will be billed $100 closed contract fee and the school system will be directly billed for the reduced tuition. The current cohort begins in Fall 2008 and will end in Spring 2011.
