Secondary Special Education Reading Program
Towson University offers a 4-course cohort in Secondary Reading in partnership with the Baltimore County Public Schools. The purpose of this 4-course cohort is for Secondary Special Education teachers to learn current best practices for literacy education and for obtaining Reading Teacher Certification. Courses include:
Teaching Reading and Writing in the Content Areas K-12
Reading Theory and Practice
Reading Assessment
Reading Disabilities
This 4-course cohort began in summer 2008 and ends in spring 2009 with the possibility of additional cohorts being offered. All courses are offered off-campus in local BCPS schools at reduced tuition based on school system's reimbursement rate. Students will be billed $100 closed contract fee and the school system will be directly billed for the reduced tuition.
