Student Schedule

8:00 - Registration - Center for the Arts Lobby/Grand Hall

8:30 - Welcome - Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall

8:45-10:15 - Attend Academic Classes - Each class listed below (A-B-C) will be presented three times in succession. Students will be divided into three groups (1-2-3). The groups will attend each of the classes between 8:45-10:15.

  1. The Wizardry of Louis Armstrong (Music History) - 8:45 (Grp. 1), 9:15 (Grp. 3) & 9:45 (Grp. 2)
  2. Harmonic Sequences: Ride This Train! (Music Theory) - 8:45 (Grp. 2), 9:15 (Grp. 1) & 9:45 (Grp. 3)
  3. Show Me the Music (Conducting) - 8:45 (Grp. 3), 9:15 (Grp. 2) & 9:45 (Grp. 1)

10:15-10:45 - Tour of Music Facilities

11:00-11:45 - Lunch in University Union Ballroom

11:45-12:30 - Careers in music, Q&A with music students, faculty, and staff

12:30-1:00 - Return to the Center for the Arts and retrieve checked instrument(s)

1:00-1:50 - Masterclasses by instrument/voice/composition - A chance to work directly with our amazing performance and composition faculty

2:00 - Open Ensemble Rehearsals (Jazz Orchestra/Symphonic Band, Mixed Choral Ensemble, String Ensemble)

3:15 - TU Student Showcase Recital - Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall

4:00 - TU Marching Band Performance - Johnny Unitas Stadium

8:00 - Registration - Center for the Arts Lobby/Grand Hall

9:00-9:15 - Department/Day Overview - Recital Hall

9:15-10:00 - Financial Aid and University Admissions - Recital Hall

10:15-10:45 - Building Tour - Optional: parents may remain in Recital Hall with further questions

11:00-12:00 - Lunch in University Union Ballroom

12:00-1:00 - Degrees in Music - University Union Ballroom

1:15-1:45 - A Music Class for Parents!

2:00 - Open Ensemble Rehearsals - attend an ensemble rehearsal with your child. (Jazz Orchestra/Symphonic Band, Mixed Choral Ensemble, String Ensemble)

3:15 - TU Student Showcase Recital - Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall

4:00 - TU Marching Band Performance - Johnny Unitas Stadium
