The Department of Music is located in the Center for the Arts, at the corner of Osler and Cross Campus drives. The Center for the Arts houses the Ruth Marder Studio Theatre, Mainstage Theatre, the Asian Arts & Culture Center, the Center for the Arts Art Gallery, Holtzman MFA Art Gallery, and Community Arts Center.
The Center for the Arts was extensively renovated and augmented in 2004. The Department of Music occupies three floors in two wings of the building.
The new wing contains most of the faculty offices, the administrative suite, the new recording studio, the keyboard lab, percussion practice rooms, resource room, and computer lab.
The renovated wing contains most of the classrooms, practice rooms, rehearsal rooms, the Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall, and the Recital Hall.
The Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall has 500 seats. It houses Towson University’s pipe organ.
The new Recital Hall was built in 2004. It has 162 seats.
The RSTUDM is a professional, teaching recording studio. Recording, mixing, and mastering services are available to members of the Towson Unversity community and the public.
All classrooms are equipped with Dell and Apple computers, digital document readers, and ceiling-mounted LCD projectors.
