Biography

Mary Ann Criss has served as Assistant to the Chairperson and Academic Program Coordinator since August 1997.  Under her guidance, the department has reorganized many of its operations, including admissions, auditions, and advising procedures, facilities scheduling, course exceptions, and student services.  Ms. Criss also writes and edits department and university publications, including a yearly update to the music course information and major requirements in the University’s Undergraduate Catalog

In addition to her administrative duties, Ms. Criss is a member of the department’s curriculum committee, recruitment committee, advising committee, and is the First Year Experience Advisor for incoming freshmen music majors and music minors.   Ms. Criss also is an active participant at the University Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, and off-campus college fairs and other recruitment events.  During the summer and in January, Ms. Criss works with New Student Programs and Academic Advising, Retention and Completion Office, serving as the Department of Music’s coordinator for transfer student orientation and registration.

Ms. Criss holds a Master of Science in Professional Writing and served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of English.
