Minutes from General Meeting, Tuesday, September 11, 2007

All 4 Committee members were present
34 people attended

-Co-Organizer, Heather Kangas started the meeting by introducing the organization, then she asked everyone to share a little information about themselves.

She then spoke about:

-materials in the free folder that was handed out to all attendees. The folder contained the organization’s Vision Statement and Platform, a Political Organizing Manuel, and two information sheets titled “A Progressive Plan to Change America to Change America” and “Progressive Democrats of America.”

Co-Organizer, Sean Lawlor spoke about:  

-the past actions of the organization. He explained how we have done community service events such as Zoo Boo, how we have taken trips to Philadelphia and Washington DC, and how we have participated in the campaign for Tracey Miller and the issue of Health Care.

Both Organizing Directors them spoke about plans for this semester, and gave a brief introduction of the Committees.

Sean Lawlor then announced our upcoming events:

            -the Iraq War Demonstration is this Saturday, September 15^th in Washington DC.

            -the Bake Sale on Tuesday September 18^th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

            -Donkeyfest on Wednesday September 19^th from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm in Ches. II

            -the Philadelphia Trip on October 13^th.

Lauren McDade then spoke about The Progressive and how we need people to write for it.

Then Heather Kangas announced that all of the member should spilt up and join one of the three Committees and discuss ideas for events and actions with the other members.

After abut twenty minutes the group came back together. Heather and Sean answered any questions that any members had.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm. The next one is scheduled for September 18, 2007.
