Sean Lawlor
Co-Organizing Director

Hey, my name’s Sean and I’m one of the Co-organizing Directors of the Progressive Democrats of Towson.  I’m a political science major and I’m minoring in women’s studies and LGBT studies.  I love this organization, and I’m proud of the work that we do.  It’s great to have a community of social and political activists to work with on issues that you care about, and that’s what the Towson College Democrats are all about.  The most pressing issue our country faces today is the War in Iraq; that goes without saying.  But some other issues that matter most to me are gay marriage, healthcare, energy issues, and human rights injustices.

If you’re looking for a group that cares about the issues—and doing something about them—come to one of our meetings!

Hey All! I’m Heather Kangas, Co-Organizing Director of the Progressive Democrats of Towson. My interests lie in the issues not in politicians. Health care, climate change, war, and poverty are all issues I care passionately about. I love working with energetic students who want to change the status quo and improve the country. Grassroots activism is crucial to affect change. If you want to meet interesting people who work hard on and off Towson’s campus to promote progressive values come to our meetings! You won’t be sorry! Carpe Diem!

Heya! My name is Rachel Alexander and I am the Secretary of the Progressive Democrats of Towson. I am a Sophomore here at Towson. My major is History and my minor is English. However, I am going to stay a fifth year to get a masters degree in teaching...fun stuff! My hobbies include reading, sleeping, bike riding, swimming, playing video games, practicing my cello, and spending time with the awesome people from the College Democrats. I am passionate about politics and I have found no better place to be than here at Towson.  My principle beliefs are for gay rights, women's rights, greater health care for all residents of America, education, and immediate removal of troops from Iraq. I want to see our soldiers come home! I am optimistic for the Democrats, I believe we can make great changes in the world, we just need to step up to make out voices heard. I look forward to change for the best and I am more than glad to have but a small part in shaping the future of our nation.

Melanie Losover
Treasurer

Hey, my name is Melanie Losover and I am the Treasurer of the Progressive Democrats of Towson. I am a freshman majoring in Mass Communication/Journalism and minoring in Political Science. I became interested in world politics in my senior year of high school while taking an American Government class. As a result, I decided to pursue my interest and over the summer I worked as an intern at the Governor's Office of Community Initiatives in Downtown Baltimore. When I came to Towson that Fall, the Progressive Democrats of Towson allowed me to maintain my interest in political issues and at the same time meer some awesome, interesting, dedicated people who I have become friends with. I am proud to be part of this active organization and I'm looking forward to all of the great things we will be doing in the future.
