Body/Language: Speaking Out About Body Image and Eating Issues
Eating disorders and body image issues are on the rise, negatively affecting many college students. This event is a time to draw attention to the problem and speak out, no longer keeping it secret. Towson University students are invited to submit pieces of poetry, short fiction or creative non-fiction that captures their artistic reactions to this epidemic, expressing the range of reactions from body appreciation and pride to appearance shame and struggles. Select pieces will be chosen to be read at the event and may be published. The event will take place February 26th from 6 to 8 PM in the Potomac Room of the University Union.
The deadline for entries is December 14, 2007. Applicants will be notified of the status of their submission by January 25, 2008 through email. Contact Jaime Fenton, staff psychologist at Towson’s Counseling Center, if you have questions.
