Relationships Groups

One of the challenges of adulthood is to develop healthy relationships with others, especially peers. Students will meet to support each other in addressing issues facing college students and in discovering new ways of understanding themselves and relating to others.   If interested, call the Counseling Center at (410) 704-2512 to set up an informational meeting.

Substance Education Group

The intention of this program is to offer education about alcohol and other drugs, encourage personal awareness through discussion and to increase one's ability to self diagnosis a problem in these areas. Treatment:

The Substance Therapy/DWI Treatment Program is offered to those students who, as a result of abuse or dependence need educational information about chemical dependency and recovery, (1) are willing to commit to total abstinence, (2) are willing to seek support to completely abstain and (3) are going to learn about other non-chemical activities that are effective in their recovery.

Sexual Assault Survivor's Group

The Counseling Center in conjunction with Turnaround, is offering a FREE support group to female survivors of sexual assault.  Students from any of the local colleges and universities are welcome.  The assault may be recent or have happened years ago. A brief intake meeting is required prior to the start of the group, which will be held at Towson's Counseling Center.

Bereavement Support Group

The Counseling Center, is offering a free support group to Towson University students who are grieving the loss of someone significant in their lives.  The group meetings, which will be facilitated by a staff psychologist, will provide an opportunity to meet with others who are also grieving, and share experiences as well as coping mechanisms.  A brief intake is required prior to joining the group, which is being held at The Counseling Center on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 2:00 PM.  This support group will be open-ended, thus students can join throughout the semester.
