Peer Educator’s Role
- Being a peer educator is a unique opportunity for students to become leaders on Towson’s campus.
- This experience will likely enhance your public speaking skills, as well as your leadership skills.
- You
will serve a vital role in helping to raise awareness
regarding sexual assault, violence against women, and other
related issues.
- You
will also provide information regarding local resources that
will enable some students to find help that they may not have
previously known was available to them.
- You
will also be seen as a role model on the campus. Not only
working to raise general awareness, but also to inform fellow
students what role they can take to help work on these issues.
Functions of sexual assault awareness peer educators
- Campus Outreach
- Classroom presentations
- Outreach for the following organizations:
- Greek Life
- Athletics
- Residence Life
- Orientation
- Other student organizations and university departments
- Sexual assault awareness peer educators present on a variety of topics including (but not limited to):
- What is sexual assault?
- Myths about rape
- Dating violence
- Risk reduction
- Date rape drugs including alcohol
- Men’s prevention program
