Body\Image: Artists React to the Cultural Obsession with the
Physical Form 2009
Body/Image took place on February 26th, 2009 at
the Center for Student Diversity during National Eating
Disorders Awareness Week. This event was a time to
draw attention to the increasing problem of body image issues
and eating disorders. Towson University
students responded through visual art to this
epidemic, expressing the range of reactions from body
appreciation and pride to appearance shame and struggles. A
panel of judges from Towson University’s Department of Art+Design, Art History, Art Education and the Towson University
Counseling Center selected works to culminate in an
exhibition. Prizes were awarded to the top pieces.
Towson University
Sponsors included the Counseling Center, and the Center for
Student Diversity.
