We offer consultation services to support and advise you when you are dealing with students in distress. During working hours you can contact us at 410-704-2512, and you can reach us in a crisis. We can also consult with you more generally about mental health issues and collaborate with you in our mutual efforts to improve the campus community environment.
Assisting Students in Distress
A faculty or staff member is often the first person to recognize when a student is in distress and to reach out to that person. Faculty and staff are not expected to provide personal counseling to students. Rather, faculty and staff play an important role in encouraging students to use campus resources, including facilitating a referral to the Counseling Center, Health Center, and Disability Support Services.

The following resources for faculty and staff are taken from our Helping Students in Distress Resource Guide, and the Towson University Eating Disorder Intervention Guidelines. These publications are to help you in assisting students with a variety of problems.
Inova offers psychotherapy services for a wide range of presenting problems for TU staff, faculty and their family members. Inova also offers a variety of other services including information about resources for child/elder care and adoption services, online savings center, legal consultation, and identity theft assistance. Faculty/Staff Brief Assessment and Referral
If you are seeking mental health assistance for yourself or family members, Inova Employee Assistant Program may likely meet your needs. The Counseling Center can offer an initial appointment to TU faculty and staff when needed. If your concerns aren't resolved in the initial session with us, we can assist you in finding appropriate outside sources of help. With your permission we will remain in communication with you in order to ensure a successful outcome and to make the referral process as positive and easy as possible.
