Inquiry and the Framework for Science Education Professional Development Opportunity

What Scientists Do and Engineers Do, Students Do Too
Towson University is happy to offer "Inquiry and the Framework for K-12 Science Education." This continuing professional development opportunity is tailored to, and therefore most beneficial for, middle or high school biology teachers although teachers of other science disciplines are welcome to apply. If you are not a middle or high school biology teacher, please consider forwarding this information to your colleagues who you think might be interested in this Professional Development opportunity.

The four-day professional development includes two full-day Saturday sessions and two evening follow-up meetings during the 2014 Spring semester. During the Saturday sessions, participants will explore ways to make their biology laboratory activities more inquiry-based, creating learning opportunities that are more authentic, engaging, and student-centered. During the two evening follow-up meetings, participants will reflect on the implementation of one of their 'new and improved' lessons and receive feedback from their colleagues. At the conclusion of the PD, participants will have several rigorous, ready-to-implement life science lessons that are aligned with both the Maryland State Curriculum as well as the Framework for K-12 Science Education and Next Generation Science Standards.
