Students interested in majoring in dance at Towson University must participate in an audition as part of the application process. Auditions will be held at the Towson University Center for the Arts, Room 1003. The audition process begins promptly at 9:00am and ends at approximately 2:00pm. Check in and registration begins at 8:15am.
The Dance Audition process is the best way to learn about the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance at Towson University and see if this program is the right fit for your academic goals. At the audition you will have an opportunity to speak with current faculty and students, take several classes, and see the facilities.

How to Register for a Dance Audition Time Slot
Dance audition time slots may be reserved using Towson University's online registration system. Click the appropriate link below next to the date you would like to audition. For technical support regarding online registration please call 410-704-2760 or e-mai firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the online registration, auditionees must bring a head shot and the registration fee ($35) in the form of a cashier's check or money order at check-in on the day of the audition to be eligible to audition.
*Each audition will close when 50 candidates have registered. Winter slots fill up fast so please register as soon as possible.

Audition Dates - Transfer Students
February 2, 2013 ~ REGISTRATION CLOSED
The transfer audition is designed for students that are considering the Dance B.F.A. program and have already transferred to Towson University or are considering transferring to Towson. Transfer students are welcome to attend another audition date if this date doesn't suit your schedule. Attending one of our other dates will not affect your chances for acceptance to the program.
Audition Day Schedule
Prospective students that have registered to audition, their family, and friends are invited to participate in a general information session about Department of Dance programs.
Prospective students participate in a ballet class (optional point combinations), a modern class, and a composition/ improvisation class. (During this time family members and those not auditioning are invited to tour the facilities and speak with current students. Classes are closed to those not auditioning.)
Following the classes, the faculty will deliberate. Students may be asked to clarify their audition registration responses in a brief interview with the dance faculty.
* Dancers should come prepared with appropriate dance clothing, including shoes. Experienced dancers may also bring pointe shoes.
* Student will not be asked to perform a solo piece as part of the audition process.
Notification of Decision The Department of Dance will mail notification letters to students within one week following the audition. Please remember that prospective students must also successfully apply to the University to become a dance major.
Attend a Dance Concert While on Campus
Auditionees and their families are encouraged to attend a Towson University Dance concert while on campus or come back at another time. This is an opportunity to see current students perform and learn more about the dance programs at Towson University. Towson is within easy easy driving distance of major East Coast cities. The campus is eight miles north of downtown Baltimore, about an hour north of Washington, D.C., and four hours south of New York City. Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), located about 45 minutes south of Towson, handles air traffic from all major carriers. Train service is available via Amtrak in and out of Baltimore’s Penn Station, 20 minutes south of campus.
Directions to the Center for the Arts
From I-95 (northbound and southbound): Take the Baltimore Beltway I-695 west (toward Towson). Take exit 25, Charles Street. Proceed 1.7 miles. Turn left on Towsontown Boulevard and proceed to the first stoplight on Osler Drive. Auditions are held in room 1003 in the Towson University Center for the Arts, located on Osler Drive between Cross Campus Drive and Stevenson Lane. Auditions will be held at the Towson University Center for the Arts, Room 1003.
