The Towson University Dance Company, founded in 1982, produces quality dance concerts, educates diverse audiences, and provides professional-level performing experiences to its company members.
The Dance Company holds auditions twice a year. Company members include students in the professional-level BFA Dance Program as well as TU students in other programs who are exemplary dancers.
The Dance Company's fall and spring performance season showcases new works by Towson University faculty and renowned guest artists, such as Mark Taylor, Alonso King, Larry Keigwin, Troy Powell, David Parsons, Mark Dendy and Gus Solomons.
The company performs historical modern and ballet masterpieces. Modern masterpieces include works by Alvin Ailey, Bill T. Jones, Doris Humphrey, and Martha Graham. Ballet masterpieces comprise sections from Don Quixote, La Bayadere, Swan Lake and Giselle, among others.
Further, the Towson University Dance Company serves the community through biannual School Matinees, a performance/lecture demonstration for the Baltimore region K-12 students, and tailors its concerts to interested presenters.

Entitled “Virtuoso,” the fall 2013 matinee highlights the TUDC’s versatility and virtuosity in a series of ballets moving from classical to contemporary. First, students see the Dream Scene of Don Quixote. Choreographed by Marius Petipa, Don Quixote is a story of love and valor with explosive choreography and spirited characters. Following Don Quixote, TUDC presents a new contemporary ballet work by Runqiao Du. This is a concert not to be missed.

Parking for School Matinee
Groups must provide their own transportation. Metered lots are available for cars and vans. Bus parking is not available, but busses may unload students at the theater entrance. Please note that there are NO make-up days in the event of bad weather.

Dance Company Auditions
Dance Company auditions for the Towson University Dance Company take place the first week of classes each semester in the fall and spring. Dance majors and non-dance majors exhibiting proficient ballet and modern dance training are invited to participate. Auditioning students must be registered for a ballet or modern dance technique class at Towson University.
Accepted Dance Company students must immediately register for Dance Company, DANC 481 in addition to their already scheduled ballet/modern technique class. Rehearsals take place throughout the semester, Monday through Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts, room 1008.
The next audition for the Towson University Dance Company will take place on Thursday August 29, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts, room 1003. A few days prior to each audition, a sign-up sheet is posted on the Company Call Board across from rooms 1006 and 1008.

Audition for Company
Dance Company Auditions will take place on Thur Aug 29, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts, room 1003. A few days prior to the audition, a sign-up sheet will be posted on the Company Call Board across from rooms 1006 and 1008.
* If dancers are accepted into the dance company, they must be registered for the course by September 12th.
