Iris Andersen graduated from Baltimore School for the Arts and holds a BFA in dance from the California Institute of the Arts. She has trained at the Eglevsky Ballet, Washington Ballet, and at the Ailey School in New York. Iris studied under Irina Kolpakolva, performed premier works by John Clifford, Lisa de Ribere, Hinton Battle, Ron Cunningham and Gus Solomons, Jr as well as repertoire ranging from Marius Petipa to Martha Graham. While attending CalArts, she was nominated for the Princess Grace Award and studied abroad at the London Contemporary Dance School. Iris danced with Pasadena Dance Theatre in Pasadena, CA, from 2003 to 2011, performing new works by Laurence Blake, Cynthia Young, Leslie Carothers, Scott Putnam, Bill Evans, Jodie Gates and Glenn Edgerton. She has made appearances as the Sugar Plum Fairy in PDT's The Nutcracker, Beauty in PDT's Beauty and the Beast, Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Cinderella PDT's production of Cinderella.
She has danced with the Francisco Martinez Dance theatre in California, performing concert works as well as outreach lecture demonstrations in Los Angeles and South Bay schools. In April 2011 she received first place for her work in Howard County Ballet's Young Choreographer's Showcase. She has most recently performed with Bowen McCauley Dance, The Campbell Dance Experience and Harford Ballet Company.
