Dana J. Martin has been performing, teaching and choreographing in the Baltimore area for over 20 years. Dana is the owner and artistic director of The Moving Company Dance Center, a dance studio for children and adults dedicatedto providing high quality instruction in all facets of dance.
Dana began her dance career at Denison University and earned her MA in Dance from New York University. During her years in New York, she studied and performed with Haynes Owens, Marcus Shulkind, Emily Frankel, The Consort Dance Ensemble, Leon Felder, Miller Dance Company, the Frank Ashley Dance Company and Gus Solomons Jr. In Baltimore, Dana has performed with many area companies including The Naked Feet Dance Company, The Forrest Collection and Towson Ensemble Dancers. She has also performed works by Scott Rink, Peter Pucci, Art Bridgeman , Myrna Packard, Stuart Pimsler, Susan Mann, and Vincent Thomas. Dana currently dances in The Art of the Solo where she has performed solos by Ted Shawn and Doris Humphrey. Dana performed and choreographed for Nancy Romita and The Moving Company for ten years until assuming artistic directorship of the company this year.
Dana began her extensive teaching career in New York at the Henry Street Settlement and Space Place. She continues to teach at Towson University where she has done so for over twenty years. Dana also ran the Upper School Dance program at Roland Park Country School. Dana’s choreography has been performed by The Moving Company, Think Dance Company, Towson University Dance Company and other area schools.
