Greetings,
University Students are invited to become engaged in the following specific activities between the hours of 7:30-12:30, M-F, unless noted differently.
Please note: you will not be allowed to enter the Center for Observation/Participation/Interaction/Volunteering unless you arrive with your valid University ID (not a driver's license). Your ID will be matched to the roster which your professor has sent to us in advance. You must also, when initially arriving to observe/participate/interact/volunteer bring us our copy of your signed and dated Observation/Participation/Interaction/Volunteering Agreement.
Below are the instructions you need to follow in order to sign up for individual Observation hours.
Please note: The procedures for Participation/Interaction/Volunteering experiences are different from those of students who are observing. Your professor must contact us to work out the details of the type of experience they would you like you to have. We then will negotiate with our Supervisors --as different types of tasks require different levels of sophistication, children in all age groups may not be the answer to your need. We will get to your professors to let them know the hours within our 7:30-12:30 framework which would allow for the availability of potential access to children. After you have been given agreeable time frames for your type of project, you may then go into TutorTrac to book appointments during the time frames you have been alerted to by your professor.
Observation hours can be scheduled by you directly, through a computer based appointment
system entitled TutorTrac.
Please make sure the following steps have been completed before attempting to schedule
your observation hours:
- Your Professor must submit their class roster and syllabus to the Day Care Center. (Your name will not be in the TutorTrac system to allow you to book an appointment unless this step has already been accomplished.) Our fax number for your professor to send such information to us is 410-704-3771.
- Once your course name and number arrive and has been entered into
our computer program, you will be uploaded into the TutorTrac system.
Please note: There are many students attempting to fulfill some type of academic requirement through the University Child Care. While you are waiting to be uploaded into TutorTrac take the time to read through the "Observer's Agreement".
-
Fill out the last page of the "Observer's Agreement", print it, sign it, and bring it with your Towson University ID to your first scheduled observation. (We must have your signed Agreement before allowing you to keep your first scheduled appointment.)
Once you have finished the above, you may begin scheduling observation hours by following these steps:
- Go to http://www.towson.edu/lead
- Type in your username and password and click on the Login button. (Use your TU username as password)
- Click on the "Go To"
- Choose the " Make An Appointment" option
- Search for available times, type in a date range (we will begin making ourselves available as of the 4th week of classes through the last day of classes).
- Where "Type" is indicated, enter "Individual"
- Choose Student Day Care, where it says to select a center.
- Just below the area that says "look for tutors with specialities", there is a box w/options for tutors of speciality areas. Click w/cursor just at the top of that box where it is blank--where there is no text (the area which you click should, upon clicking w/cursor, turn dark blue).
- Then click on " Search".
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen until you see the date and classroom which you are interested in visiting - Two Year-Old Classroom (Red), Two Year Old Classroom (Yellow), Three Year-Old Classroom, and Older Three's and PreK Classroom. Click on the slot/classroom which you would prefer to reserve. Please note: there are dates in specific classrooms which have been made unavailable for booking appointments, as well as dates for the entire center which have been made unavailable for booking appointments.
- Please note: you may only sign up for 1 hour increments at a time. However, you can go back and make another appointment for that same day with different hours (back-to-back).
- You can not make an appointment for the same classroom for more than 2 hours/day.
- Click on the "Save Appointment" button.
- Click on "Exit" when you are finished
Once the program makes your appointment, you will receive an e-mail confirmation to your Towson University e-mail account.
Feel free to contact us with questions: Melissa Bach @ mbach1@towson.edu or fax us at 410-704-3771. Thank you.
