Naptime

Naptime is a really important part of our day beause many of our children are with us for a nine/ ten hour day. Children who do not sleep are more irritable, have more accidents etc., as the day progresses. The quality of our late afternoons is directly related to the quality of our naptimes; therefore we take the quality of our naptimes very seriously.

Unlike Lida Lee Tall, our previous home, we now have doors, etc. on each classroom. All children can sleep and rise at different times, and that is exactly what the Center tries to allow them to do. Each classroom is on a slightly different schedule. All schedules can be adjusted at the discretion of the Lead Teacher, but essentially our schedule runs along these parameters:

Our "Yellow" Two Year Old Class naps for approximately two hours.  Children's diapers are changed and those who are potty trained are encouraged to use the bathroom.   The children are read stories and teacher will rub their backs to encourage them to relax.  After stories are finished the shades are pulled, the lights are turned off and light music is played as the children fall to sleep.  Naptimes in our Two's Class lasts approximately 12/12:30-2/2:30.

Our "Red" Twos Class naptime begins between 12:45 and 1:00. The nap-time ritual is the same as the "Yellow" class and teachers strive to get everyone around 2:45-3:00.

Our Three Year Old Class follows the same ritual as the Twos classes with their naptime spanning approximately 1:30-3:00.

Our PreK, our oldest children nap from about 2:00 to 3:00.

We ask that parents please not take their children out of the Center during naptime. If you need to take them out early, please take them before or after naptime. (We all know how difficult it can be to get one child to sleep and we are trying to get many children to nap.) Thank you, one and all, for your consideration in this daily undertaking.

If you child has difficulty sleeping, and leaves here falling asleep, we will try to help with some suggestions on how to adjust your child's clock. Nothing changes overnight, so the sooner the process is begun, the better.  Pease speak with us as soon as possible about the dilemmas you may experience with "sleeping" at home. We have lots of experience with this problem and may be able to offer some useful suggestions.
