Why should I support the Faculty/Staff giving campaign?
Because, in the end, giving to Towson helps you by building a stronger, more connected university. A unified campus sends a strong positive message to our students, parents, and community.
Additionally, Faculty/Staff participation rates are often taken into account from many potential donors and for many grants. They want to see that we support and believe in our workplace. Every single donor dollar counts, no matter how small. Even though we are a state supported school, only 23 cents of every dollar comes from state funding.
Are donors to the Faculty/Staff campaign recognized?
Absolutely! Donors are thanked individually. Additionally, a ribbon recognizing your participation is sent to each donor to wear to university events.
Do I have to donate to the unrestricted fund in order for my gift to count?
Absolutely not! Although the university’s greatest need is unrestricted funds, all of the 500+ designations listed on our website count towards a Faculty/Staff gift.
What is an appropriate amount to give?
Every single donor dollar counts, no matter how small or large. There is no minimum commitment. Whatever the amount, your support is important and appreciated.
Who decides where the money donated to the Unrestricted Fund goes?
The Towson University Foundation board approves the unrestricted operating budget.
Why put Towson on my list of philanthropic priorities?
Supporting education gives back in so many ways. As a higher learning institution, we are continually supporting lifelong learning, the community, and the dreams of our students. Additionally, through Towson’s many designations you can support a cause/group that you already support philanthropically elsewhere.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes, in accordance with IRS regulations, your gift is tax-deductible during the calendar year in which you make your gift. The Internal Revenue Service will accept a copy of your final pay stub for the tax deduction or we will send a receipt upon request.
Why do you solicit for the 2014 Faculty/Staff campaign when it is still 2013?
The Faculty/Staff campaign operates on a fiscal year. Any gift you give from now until June 30, 2014 will count as a gift for the 2014 faculty staff campaign. This, however, DOES NOT include payroll deduction pledges for the year 2013 that end in December 2013.
Do I have to enroll in payroll deduction for my gift to count toward the Faculty/Staff campaign?
No. You can make a one-time gift using cash, checks or money orders made payable to the Towson University Foundation, Inc. (using the upper part of the payroll deduction form) or, you may make a gift using a credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) by calling the Development Office at 410-704-3375 or clicking the link below that will direct you to Towson's secure online giving site.
Once I fill out a payroll deduction card, how long will gifts be taken out of my paycheck?
Central payroll requires that payroll deduction operate on a calendar year (January 1 through December 31). They also require a new payroll deduction card to be completed each fall.
I have a question/comment/concern not addressed here. Whom can I speak with?
