The late Ruth Rosenberg Marder established the Ruth Marder Presidential Endowment for Top Ten Scholars in 2008 with a generous gift to Towson University. Part of the University’s Top 10% Program, the Marder Scholarship provides much-needed support to some of our most well-deserving and talented students. The Top 10% Program enrolls students who have completed a college prep curriculum and rank in the top 10% of their graduating class from a Baltimore City or Baltimore County public high school.
“I am thrilled to extend my support to this wonderful program, which recognizes the academic achievement of some of Baltimore’s brightest young people,” Ruth Marder exclaimed when she established the fund. “It’s very meaningful to me to know that my contribution will aid promising students on the journey to achieve their dreams, whatever those dreams may be.”
Ruth Marder was a longtime supporter of Towson University and its programs. In addition to supporting the Top 10 Scholars Program, Ruth Marder generously donated to the College of Fine Arts and Communication, which houses a studio theatre named in her honor. The Ruth Marder Studio Theatre hosts a multitude of plays, recitals, rehearsals, and classes throughout the year. Among her many community involvements, Ruth Marder also served on the Towson University Board of Visitors.
