Senior Healthcare Management major Carole Greenwell is a beneficiary of the Towson Promise Scholarship which is funded by generous gifts of all sizes from alumni, parents, and friends of Towson University.
Why did you choose to attend Towson University?
Towson is the perfect distance from my hometown, and when I visited the school, I fell in love with the campus and the area around it. I also had a few friends who graduated from Towson and really loved their undergraduate experience.
What is your favorite class and/or professor? Why?
My favorite class at Towson has been Honors Microeconomics with Howard Baetjer. I really enjoyed the content of the class and Professor Baetjer's teaching style is amazing. He presented the material in ways that always kept the class interested and involved.
What has been your best moment or greatest achievement at Towson so far?
One of my best accomplishments at Towson University so far has been becoming a part of the Honors College. The Honors College has challenged me in new ways and allowed me to grow as an individual and strive for my very best.
Are you involved in any extra-curricular activities at Towson?
I am involved in Invisible Children, Zeta Tau Alpha, Circle K, and Upsilon Phi Delta. I also volunteer for many Towson and community events including Race for the Cure, Light the Night, Tigerthon, Town and Gown, and The Big Event.
What are your career plans/aspirations?
I hope to be at the top of hospital administration one day as a CEO. As a Healthcare Management major I know the direct impact healthcare has on our future and have seen how it can affect each of our lives. Working in this field I will have be able to facilitate any changes that I see fit in the facility that I am working in to make things run more smoothly and maximize efficiency. I will have the ability to touch and change lives and I can only hope that I am able to accomplish this.
What does the Towson Promise Scholarship mean to you?
I want to wholeheartedly thank each and every donor who supports the Towson Promise Scholarship for the precious resources you have provided me with in order to fund my education at Towson. Without this scholarship it may not have been possible for me to attend the university and now I am able to pursue my dreams. My mother has struggled to provide financially for our family. My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was ten years old and I am one of seven children. Since I was old enough to get a job, I have been working on my own to pay for anything I desire, my education, and all other expenses. Receiving this scholarship means not only allowing me to reach my goals more easily, but also shows how much support I have behind me. It is not easy to fund a college education on your own, but with monetary support from practically strangers, it is unbelievably encouraging. This scholarship is allowing me to achieve my goals and is wholeheartedly appreciated.
